Turkey's Property Market: A Resilient Powerhouse in Early 2025

Turkey's real estate sector experienced a remarkable surge in the first half of 2025. Property sales climbed by an impressive 15.6% compared to the same period last year, with over 1.4 million properties successfully sold and bought. This volume positions it as the second-highest first-half performance on record, trailing only the peak set in 2022.
Growth Spans the Entire Property Spectrum
This wasn't just a boom in homes; the expansion reached across all property categories. From undeveloped land parcels and agricultural fields to bustling commercial spaces and modern office units, the market saw widespread activity. While March noted a minor 0.8% dip, every other month in this six-month stretch showed positive growth. Notably, June stood out with a substantial 33% year-on-year increase.
Consistent Activity Fuels Monthly Transactions
Transaction volumes held consistently high throughout the first half. January kicked off with 238,938 sales, closely followed by February's 232,756. After a slight easing to 222,934 in March, the market bounced back robustly in Aprilwith 237,829 sales. May marked the period's peak at 263,643 transactions, before settling at 218,282 in June.
Government Revenues See Historic Boost from Property Transactions
The invigorated real estate market provided a significant windfall for government finances. Fees collected from title deed transactions skyrocketed by an extraordinary 78%, injecting 62.3 billion Turkish lira into the treasury during this period. In total, land registry offices managed an immense workload, processing over 9 million transactions. This broad scope included property sales, mortgage registrations, inheritance transfers, and various other legal property adjustments.
Real Estate: A Go-To Investment Amid Economic Shifts
These robust figures underscore a strong appetite for real estate and a dynamic property market infrastructure. Despite ongoing economic uncertainties, real estate remains a highly favored investment channel and a dependable store of value for both individual citizens and large-scale investors throughout Turkey.
